Lesson Learned and Some Fun Finds....

Mistake: buying trick-or-treat candy too soon. I have now eaten way too many Tootsie Rolls and Dots.
Lesson learned: DO NOT buy your favorite candy and DO NOT buy until Halloween day! Your thighs and teeth will thank you. Now, I must go hide this bucket!!
My other downfall is shopping(!)......so, I'm sharing my recent fun finds....

I am wanting to add more punch to my kitchen, and I found these goodies the other day....bright birdie fabrics, a fun green rug and...
.....I love blue and green, so I am thinking I can add these in.....aren't those canisters sooooo cute?? I'm thinking I need to go back and get more for craft storage!
I have also decided that once I am ALL caught up on etsy orders, the house is clean, my craft room organized....I am going to get out my beads and trinkets and get jewelry crafting! Look at these delicious cabochons I found at BeadSupply.....
I could just eat them up!

And, these sweet hoots and other vintage stacking flower beads were bought at MKSupplies and CheapCharlie. Fun. fun!
and this bright, colorful mix is from LynetteApril Arts.....I have been loving the soft, stackable flowers that add punches of color to something plain, and boy did I find it!

Do you make jewelry? If so, what is your favorite type of jewelry to make?
I love making rings and earrings, since that is what I wear the most.....

Another fun find........yep, I even buy wine if there's an owl on it....

Silly, I know, but I can't help myself.....and it's very tasty too!

Whooo can resist these little guys..... Jen Thoman emailed me this little hoot that her mom took a picture of!! Isn't he sooo sweet? Oh, I could just snatch him up and give him hugs and kisses, I love this picture...thanks for sharing him, Jen!

Sorry so short, but I am a cleaning machine right now, so back to work for me! Enjoy your day!

Pooped from Partying....and a WINNER!

H-a-p-p-y T-u-e-s-d-a-y!
* * * * * * * * * * * * * * * *
I took these pics when it was a bit nicer out.....but here's Lily's birthday skirt.............that also fit as a dress......we decorated.......we had sweets.......... we opened presents...........we loved our CUTE cards!!we lined up our dolls to help celebrate.........we (kinda) posed for pictures.....and we shared with friends.....
Whew! Little by little we are recovering over here.....it was a fun and eventful birthday week! I spent most of her birthday morning crying (terrible, i know!).....but pulled it together to celebrate with everyone.

THANK YOU from the bottom of my heart for all the kind, sweet words and birthday wishes for my little nugget....my readers mean so much to me and it was so special to be able to share my story and pictures with you.

Since my brother is still here, I let him pick a winner for the Cupcake Purse! And, he drew

Jen from Lipstick and Laundry!!

Congrats to you!

Contact me and let's get that sweet bag to you!

I also wanted to say thank you to some new readers who popped into my blog over the last week.....I hope you come back and visit again! Yes, I read all of my comments and visit all of your blogs (if you have one)....even though I may not have time to always leave a comment, I am there, reading and loving it! So, thank you....having you as a reader means a lot to me!

I've got some yummy new finds to share with you....until then......Have a Happy Day!

It's Official

I could laugh, I could cry.

It's official....my little lady is one year old.

I remember exactly how I felt the morning of October 25, 2007. I woke up in the middle of the night to go to the bathroom (of course!), and felt a little crampy. I didn't think anything of it because I had felt crampy off and on throughout my pregnancy. My due date was October 26th. I went back to bed and awoke at 6am with waaaay more severe cramping. I thought..."could this really be it??" I was so excited and practically jumped on hubby and said..."I think today's the day!!!! I think I our daughter is coming TODAY!". Then I went into full on cleaning mode, right there at 6am! I washed all the bedding, vacuumed, finished laundry, the whole nine yards. I felt the cramps getting a bit stronger, but nothing unbearable. Until noon. Then, the cramps were so strong, I called the hospital and they told me to keep track of the contractions and call back when they were 3-1-1......if you've had a baby, you know what that means! An hour later and they were 3-1-1.....yep, I was having full on contractions!

I remember the excited words exchanged between my hubby and I on the drive to the hospital, I was in pain, but I was more thrilled than anything!

I remember I closed my eyes in the car and hugged myself, so that I could forever implant the feelings I felt at that moment in my heart forever.

I remember laying in the triage, listening to other excited moms in the early stages of labor, thinking......our babies are going to be born on the same day.

I remember checking into our room and chatting with our sweet nurse and doctor.....everyone was so patient, helpful and excited right along with us. I could not have pulled through so successfully without them...

I remember waiting....and waiting, but the time was flying and I progressed "nicely" (according to my doc).

I remember the doctor laying her in my arms for the very first time. I was in awe, I was so happy, I was in love. That unexplainable, deep, pain-in-my-heart love.

No one ever told me how good and fulfilling it would feel to have this little girl.

N0 one ever told me how I would walk to the ends of the earth for this little girl.

No one ever told me that I would grow more and more and MORE in love with her as the days went by.

***

And, no one told me how she would melt my heart with every smile. Just like she did this birthday morning when I went into her room to get my first hug of the day. So sweet, so innocent, so......beautiful.

I have never loved anything like I love my little lady Lilyana!

Happy 1st Birthday to...............My Lily Eden

Random Bits

Hello Friends!

I'm going to start out with a litte tag I got from Tasha at Brighton Early......it's little tidbits about me
7 facts about me:

1. I have germ OCD.....I always need to have clean hands and I am always making sure Lily's hands are clean (most of you already knew this, right??)

2. I am a HORRIBLY messy crafter, scraps 'n crap scattered from one end of the house to the other!

3. I decided at the last minute to name my daughter Lilyana.......her name was supposed to be Violet Grace

4. I am constantly craving spicy foods! Whenever my friends or hubby asks where I want to eat, I always say "somewhere spicy!"

5. I used to have a 180 lb dog

6. I only get my hair cut twice a year (just chopped off 8 inches in August)

7. I am horrible at math!

So, there you have it.....random, random. I'm not going to follow the rules (I'm sucha rebel eh?) and tag more peeps.....only because this is a quicky post! If you are interested in posting 7 random things about yourself, I'd LOVE to read em!

Anyone have a little doggie that likes to dress up?I wish I did! Owen would NEVER wear this....he hates all dorky little dog attire. But, isn't it so so cute?? I am going to stake out Target and make them sell it in a human version....I'd totally strut around town in this!

Random, random!

Ok, now all you crafty ladies, I need your input! I am soooo wanting this brand new pink Zutter! My head hurts thinking of all the fun stuff I could bind and make with this baby....So, do any of you out there own this version yet? If so, what do you think of it? Is it worth it? And, can I cut through acrylic and metal with it?? I'm right on the tiptoes, ready to buy....just getting cold feet. Your input would be greatly appreciated!

Ladies, you are NOT going to wanna miss this Friday's Freebie!

Be sure to stop back and have a look-see!

Have a fab Monday......well, it's almost Tuesday now...enjoy your day!

October 11, 2008

From Cheap to Chic...

Oh, what beauuuutiful weather we had the entire weekend! 70s and 80s---pure perfection! We played outside, went for long walks, swang on swings and went to Appleberry Farm! This place is awesome, so serene and pretty....with lots and lots of sweet apple goodness......more than I ever though possible! And, they had the yummiest butternut squash I have ever tasted.....I made some sliced up and baked with apples.....deeeelish!! I could bathe in squash, I LOVE it!

Here's the recipe (take note, Casey):

Baked Squash & Apple Casserole

2-3lb butternut squash (peel, seed & cut into thin slices)
2-4 apples (core, peel & slice)
Alternate layers of squash & apples in buttered baking dish
Add and mix in:1/3 cup brown sugar1/2 tsp cinnamon, dash salt1/4 cup cold butter, cut in small pieces
Add 1/4 cup water
Cover and bake at 350 degrees for 45-50 minutes or until tender

If you love squash and you love apples, you will thank me!!

So, remember how I went to Wally world last week and found those cute Martha Stewart birds? While I was there, I also picked up some cheap comfies for my little nugget.....and I mean CHEAP!
The pants were $3 each and the hoodies were $6.50 each.....and they are thick and cozy, too! Nothin worse than thin, chintzy comfies.

Of course, they were not good enough plain. I had plans for them.....I mean Lily's gotta be cute when she's tumbling around at the Little Gym, right??

I perked up the pink set with my favorite Alexander Henry Apple and Pears fabric....a little strategic sewing and wha-la!

I have lots and lots of ruffle lace just lying around, waiting to be used, so I chic'ed up the other set with that......I LOVE how this set turned out!

Simple and cheap way to spice up a little girl's wardrobe.....what on earth would I do if I had a boy??

I also found some the latest and greatest birdie fabric......yum yum!

I bought it with the intentions of making a couple pillows to add a pop of color here and there.....I do not have a lot of red in my house (none really, now that I think of it), but I love red, so what's my problem??

On to the winner of FREEBIE FRIDAY (early)!!

FREEBIE FRIDAY!

Wow…..these days are flying by! I seriously can not believe it’s Friday again, can you?? This week has been a blur of activity…..both good and bad, happy and sad. I hope your week was fun and eventful!

I had time to sneak in a little run to the local antique shop and I found a gem of a table runner! It was obviously handcrafted by some talented person....made of wool felt and oOoOoodles of sequins!Look at all the yummy details.....I can't wait to use it in my holiday decor......it will be a fun and bright addition! I love it so much, that every time I look at it, more and more crafty ideas come to my mind....for me, this piece is such an inspiration, too!

Not to get too personal here, but do you every lie in bed at night, trying to go to sleep…...and all you can think about is…crafts?! What can I create next? Ideas and visions are always being tossed around in my head as I am drifting off into la-la land. Last night was no exception. I have been thinking about Lollishops and what I will sell there. If you are not familiar with Lollishops, read all about it here! Basically, it’s an online venue for crafters to sell all kinds of yummy, frou-frou goodies! I feel like I have tons of ideas and not enough time…..don’t you hate that feeling??

So........one can never have too many cupcakes, right? I think Lollishops will be a great place to showcase lots and lots of cupcake goodness! Feast your eyes on the newest member of my ever growing fabric stash…
Delish, right? I love, love LOVE charm packs….no having to cut and measure. Perfect for me! This pack has 50 squares, too! Want some of this cupcake action, go see Kristen at Fat Quarter Shop.

So, my "Freebie Friday" question to you is......

What would YOU make with this pile of cupcake fabric squares?

Answer to this post and (hopefully) my little LilyBean will draw your name on Monday!

Since I am in the process of making holiday treats for Lemon Tree, the winner will receive a set of 10 "Oh Christmas Tree" tags....lots of crafty uses! And, I will also include a "sneak peek" holiday item I am working on.....it's a secret, so only the winner will see it....for now!

Here's to a happy, crafty weekend!

October 8, 2008

Oh Martha....Do You Ever Sleep?

Hello.....Martha Stewart is in the Hoooouse! Man, this woman is unstoppable, huh? I was chattin' with my bloggy friend April just the other day about how this woman went from K-mart to Michael's to Archiver's to.....Wal-mart? Yep, Wal-mart. I barely EVER go to Wally World, only because the one close by is G.R.O.S.S. Well, I was there yesterday and what do my wandering eyes see?

The most DELICIOUS, sparkly, glittery and YUMMY birdies....
Oh, I snatched those babies up and counted down the hours of play until Lily's bedtime, LOL!! And, while watching McCain and Obama go at it, I crafted up some yummies with these birdies. And, let me tell you...the glitter was flying!!A sweet little trinket box, made with ribbons, glitter, vintage paper and that oh-so versatile acrylic paint...A stitched up little card...
And, my personal favorite....this uber-glittery shabby pink frame.....yum yum! I don't know about you, but I LOVE picture frames, got em allllll over the house!
These glittery birds will be flying into the shop today!

If you have never been, you should stop by Martha Stewert's Blog and don't forget to check out her website for yummy recipes, craft ideas & inspirations, and much more!

Sweet Denise from Polka Dot Moon gave me a Blogging Friends Forever award.....isn't she kind? I am so honored to have her as a dedicated reader of my blog, and think she is awesome!

P.S. I enjoy reading your blog too, Denise!!

I am supposed to give the award to 5 other readers as well (4 dedicated readers and one newbie), so I would to pass this award along to: April, from JaneSays.....Judi from Cranberry Blossom, Karen from Create Something Special, Tabitha from Roots & Wings, and Nicole from Hoboville.....thank you gals for making my blog reading more fun!
I wish I could pass it along to all of you readers, since you are all the reason why I even blog in the first place and I appreciate every single one of you!!
*****************************************
Just wanted to share a few pics that brought me a little chuckle.....

And.....this one really made me laugh! Poor Lily.....there's no escaping mama's crafty scraps, is there?

Hope you have a crafty-happy day!

October 6, 2008

Not a Happy Lily-Bug

Hope your weekend was good! Ours was filled with good family times and eating...LOTS of it.

Me and a little girl name Ava (cute name, cute girl) ate the best part off of this coffee cake....yum yum! Why are the tops of anything sweet like muffins and cupcakes always so much better? And, I took back those nasty avocados today. Know what the guy said to me? "yeah, we had several people bringing those avocados back in the last week." Oh, well....whew! I didn't feel so dumb then. And besides, I picked up this little treat..........made me feel all better for not having any guacomole last night.
So, name picking time came around today and someone was NOT interested. Not going to name names....

So, I had to draw a name myself for Freebie Friday! And the winner is:

that sweet gal from JUST JINGLE!!!

Contact me for your little charm pack of fabric---you winnner, you!

I'm a busy little beaver over here in Lemon Tree land.....working on some sweet holiday goodies! Be sure to check the shop for new stuff coming soon!

What Would You Do?

So, I am torn......I bought several avocados from the store this morning and this is what most of them look like!! I guess we wont be having guacamole with our chips!!

I don't mean to complain but these babies were almost $2.00 each!! But I have never returned anything at the grocery store.

So, what would you do? Take them back to the store or suck it up to bad avovcado pickin'? Just food for thought.....and I'm curious about what my bloggy friends would do.

Psssst! There's still time to post a comment to win the FREEBIE (see below post)---My little bean will pick a name tomorrow!

Happy Sunday all.....I am back to cookin!

The Cupcake Card Challenge Kit will be available in my shop from now until November 15th....so, if you'd like to participate, get it early so you can start creating your cute cupcake card right away! Shipping by me will be just as quick, I promise!

--Then, you have until November 29th to finish up your card and email me ONE picture of your finished product. You do not need to send your cards to me, you get to keep them for yourself!

--All participants' cupcake cards will be posted on my blog on December 1st.

--You, the readers will browse all of the finished cards and choose your top 3 favorites.

--Judging will take place for 1 week (December 1st--December 7th).

All comments for the entire judging week will not be shown to keep the judging private. The cards posted will be labeled A, B, C, etc. You may not vote for your own card (sorry!).

There will be 3 winners!! Yay! The top 3 cards that get the most votes, will win the following:

1ST PRIZE WINNER WILL RECEIVE:
($50 giftcard to Target)

2ND PRIZE WINNER WILL RECEIVE:

($20 giftcard to Target)

3RD PRIZE WINNER WILL RECEIVE:

($10 giftcard to Lemon Tree Studio)

The winners will be posted on December 8th!!

I already have the gift cards purchased, and I hope there's at least a little bit of interest.....I think it could be fun to see all the different cards made using the same goodies! And, hey...there could only be a few people who participate and that would make your odds of winning pretty good, right?!

Since I am giving away $80 in November/December, I will not be having Freebie Friday's again until the New Year.....I thought this would be a fun way to get ready for the holidays and I hope you'll join in!

If questions should arise or if anything is unclear, please feel free to email me at

lemon_tree_studio@yahoo.com

(there will also be a set of detailed "rules" sent along with each card kit to help clarify the details)

Want to get crafting on your Cupcake Card?? Head to the shop and look for the listing for "The Cupcake Card Challenge Kit"! If you do not see one listed, please convo me thru etsy or send me an email and I will make sure you get one------thanks!

Be sure to tell your friends to join in.....you may use my little Cupcake Card Challenge image on your blogs (or wherever), too!

FREEBIE FRIDAY!!

Oh, hello Friday!

Look what I found this pretty Friday morning!

My how the weeks are flying by.....I feel like just yesterday, I was welcoming summer and now I am steps away from pulling out my wool coat and hat. By the way, I am looking forward to that!

Soon there will be no more nice days to play out on the deck.... If you have been following my posts for a long time, then you know I used to have a blog over at Wordpress. I posted there back in February about the birth of my friends baby boy and what a perfectly beautiful winter day it was.....I looked back on those pictures and LOVE how yummy this ice-coated tree looks.....

Look at how the same tree looks today!! It's changing everyday...heading more and more to Fall...

Speaking of change, I have something in the works to SPICE THINGS UP for my bloggy readers....that's all I will say for now....stay tuned!

And, stay tuned for fun Lemon Tree goodies being created with this fun pack of Dick and Jane books.....don't you love Dick and Jane? I love the graphics and love the fabric line, too!

This Friday's freebie is fabric, too......this sweet set of charm squares by Anna Griffin....

Perfect for crafting up all sorts of fun stuff! Lots of pretty fabric for one lucky person! Just tell me (comment to this post):
