Celebrate National Card Making Day!

So, it's a few days away......but I wanted to mention National Card Making Day! It's the first Saturday of every October, so this year it's on October 4th. You can read more about it here.
Basically, "It is a day to connect with fellow card makers both near and far, to applaud the creativity that powers the craft, and to provide an opportunity for card makers to connect and find resources that will empower, inspire, and encourage them in their card making."
How about a little eye candy for those cupcake lovers out there?
Yummy new (yet to be released--November) Pink Paislee "Sweet Cakes" paper..... Rub ons......and stamps......delish!!
And, have you ever visited Scrapbook Doodle?? Well, they are having a sale right now! 2o% off everything in their store (even sale items)! Use discount code: discount-20off when you check out! And, they only charge a flat rate of $4.60 for shipping, which makes it worthwhile in my opinion. Nothing better than late night shopping in your jammies. There's lots of fun stuff to fuel your creative juices.....if you love paper like I do!

And, for those of you that sell on etsy, be sure to check out this fabulous etsy directory, where you can enter in your info and get put in searches...a handy tool to bring in more traffic to your shop.....which is never a bad thing, right?

Today was a fun day for Lily playing at The Little Gym.....we went for a "trial class" just to check it out. I think we're going to get sucked in.....she had so much large motor fun and loved watching the other kiddos play!

Do any of you or have any of you taken your kids there? What did you think of it? I am trying to add in one extra curricular activity for us to do every week and this seemed like a fun option!

Would love to hear your opinions....do you and your child/ren do extra curriculars you'd like to share?

Happy Tuesday!!

Team Work...I Should do it More Often!

I have to admit, I am stubborn and so is my hubby. Yep. Sometimes we can butt heads when it comes to even little things because we both think we have the better idea or the most practical solution. We do this, of course, usually in good humor. One of those "head butts" was how to fix our terribly jagged and dangerous fireplace from Lily.....one fall on this baby and she'd need surgery (scary, scary!)Hubs thought this could be remedied with "something crafty" from my craft room or just "get something spongy and thick and tape it on somehow, I'm sure you've got something in that room of yours."

Right, right! So that in a couple weeks, Lily could rip it off and get to the dangerous stones again? No way! My stubborn self stood my ground on this one. I kept saying we need something practical, semi-permanent and pretty.

So, the team players in us cooked up the "Cushy Bench"!

One player went to work at Home Depot getting wood cut.....and the other went to work finding some super thick foam and pretty fabric (the more fun job, of course)!

Oh, my hubby is NO CARPENTER bless his heart. Many shouts later, he brought in his work of art...
Nice! It's a hollow box that is heavy and slides right onto and over the fireplace stoop. Great job, honey!

Then I went to work padding the dickens outta this box....using way more than I really needed...never can be too safe, right? I used decorator weight fabric by Liz Claiborne......nice and neutral for our family room.

The result of our team efforts? A nice, safe place that Lily can sit on or accidentally run into and will stay in one piece! Whew!

If you've got an active toddler-to-be, this is an awesome and simple solution for making your fireplace a bit safer.
AND, it's not an eyesore....it looks like it "belongs"...

Moral of the story? Somtimes, 2 heads working together is way better than 1...and we had fun making this together......TEAMWORK: try it sometime, LOL!

FREEBIE FRIDAY

Oh Hobby Lobby (Hob Lob as I call it)....you are so good to me! I love wandering down your colorful aisles in search of nothing, but always finding something....
I love this aisle of sparkly holiday goodness.....

Look at this sweet jeweled birdie!! She didn't come home with me, because I couldn't think of where I would use her. ...but now I'm thinking she'd make a cute embellishment for something in my Lollishop!

I must confess.....we have not had a Christmas tree is 2 years! Yep, 2 years. Terrible I know, but we had a brand new (chew everything) puppy the one year and a new baby the next......
But, this year we are gonna have 2 trees to make up for it!
Maybe a girly "Lily Tree"?

Hmm....wonder what daddy would think of some pink trees all over the house...?

Oh, my favorite.... I loooooove their ornament aisles....and they have several!

Ornaments that look good enough to eat....

This would be a fun color scheme...

And, look at this little gingerbread doll......isn't she sweet?

I got her for Lil.....maybe the start of a tradition....a special glass ornament every year...(and that ice cream cone looked pretty cute too!)

I left not buying as much as I thought I would (whew)...just a few goodies to make some yummy new stuff for Lemon Tree and Lily's little ornament.

Polka Dot party's a comin......here's some hair ornaments I made for her to keep those pesky bangs outta her way for the big day...I could eat these, too---DELISH!! What is it about polka's?

So, for this Friday's freebie.....you could win some PILES.

And, no not the medical term piles....I'm talkin' some yummy piles.........you'll get a sherbert-y pile O buttons......And a huge 50 piece pile of naked chipboard....lots of goodies in that pile!

All you have to do is answer me this:

What's your favorite way to decorate your Christmas tree?

If you do not get a Christmas tree, just tell me what your favorite decorating scheme is!

I just thought of something....I never tell ya my answers to any of these questions, lol!! Last weeks question, I would have picked the dream vacation hands down!! Making family memories like that is priceless to me. And as for the Christmas tree....I love all white lights (a LOT of them), and a simple color scheme that I have to change every year. This year I'm thinking cranberry....

Winner posted on Sunday (or Monday if this weekend gets really crazy!!)

*****Special treat here!! Lily's "soooooo big!" Hear me (and my non accent, right?) and see her in action...*****

.....and are those stones hot? LOL! Nope, they'r e not!

JUST PUSH PLAY!
video

p.s. sorry for the crappy screen.....was taken with my el cheapo digital cam. Enjoy your weekend!!

Camera Happy!

Have I mentioned how I love this new camera?? What a world of difference in the quality of pictures I have been able to shoot! And, the best part is there is no delay, so I am not missing a beat.....and my most favorite subject is VERY fast, so it's awesome for catching her in motion...love love LOVE it!

What I didn't love is that plain 'ol strap it came with. Yucky and boring and so not me, hee hee.

What's a gal to do? Yep, whip out some of my most favorite Heather Bailey Pop Garden fabrics and make a strap sleeve...no pattern (remember, I am a cavewoman), just a lot of measuring and figuring....

It's all thick & quilted and yummy.....NO, it's not perfect...I had a hard time sliding that baby on the boring strap, but it went on eventually! My point was to make something that could be slid off and on and washed when needed or even to make a few and change it up when I want to. I would maybe make the dimensions a bit wider next time for ease of removal, but for now, I really love how this one turned out! I think the more practice I have, the better I will get at makin' them....so, I want to make a couple more for myself.

I don't think I will be selling these in my Lemon Tree Shop, but If you're feelin' like you need one to spice up your camera strap, email me and let's *talk*....I can make you one for very reasonable!

Speaking of which, there's a sweet gal on etsy who's making me a quilted camera bag, too! I picked out these delish fabrics for her to use....

Yummy, right? The perfect mix of girly and bright! I will be sure to show ya the finished product...

Just wanted to share my camera excitement with you all!

I am so behind on emails, and bloggy visits and I still have a load of laundry left, so I am off! Also takin' the LilyBugs swimming this afternoon, should be fun since she has not been back to the pool since her lessons ended!

What's up in your neck of the woods??

♥FREEBIE FRIDAY♥

Hello Friday!

A while back, my friend gave me this little nifty device....the Ped Egg, for scrappin the dead skin off of your feet....gross, huh? Not pretty, but lemme tell ya, it does the job it's supposed to do!! My feet have been neglected pretty much all summer long, so this was just the cure. I had to laugh when I got it....because I had just read this post! My little Ped Egg spokesperson-model liked it too!

Not on the same topic, but LOOK! I found more of the same style owl goodies! Yummy lounge pants with a sweet embroidered owl....Cozy sleep set with soft pants and a tee!Oh, and don't forget the slippers! Do you call them "bedroom slippers", too? Keeping with the clothing theme....anyone have an extra $230 they want to get rid of? If so, I will take it and RUN to ANTHROPOLOGIE to get this BeE-uU-tIfUl wool sweater coat with sunflowers on it....seriously, you have to see it here ...I couldn't get a bigger picture to show you the true beauty of it...

I love sunflowers and this sweater was to die for! That store makes me sick, no really....my stomach churns with sickness when I am there......there is WAY to much to look at and drool over! I wish it wasn't so dang pricey!! If you're lucky though, you can be in there on the right day, at the right time.....like I was yesterday.

The last time I was there, I was lusting after this sweet embroidered birdie lamp shade. It was $100. A bit much, but I was almost going to pay full price for it. But, I held back.
THEN, I went yesterday, and well.....let's just say I didn't even pay half of the full price....mine, mine, mine! Isn't it so adorable?? Look at all the little details! This will be so cute in Lily's "big girl" room...

And, I scored another lusted after item....these yummy birdie plates...LOVE EM!!

I just want to hang these up and stare at them...

Want more eye candy? I love Basic Grey papers and this new line does not disappoint! Lots of yummy birdies, butterflies and blossoms....oh so pretty! If you need to play with a little pack, head HERE.

I just could not wait to get my hands on this paper....so dang cute!

Hello, Friend......also in the SHOP

Oh, I almost forgot about FREEBIE FRIDAY!!!

This week came so quickly, I didn't have time to even THINK about a giveaway...yikes! SO, I am going to give the "chosen one" a set of these yummy-licious papers! Yep, could all be yours! Think of all the cute little things you can create with this paper pack!

All you have to do is answer me this (to this post)....

♥Would you rather have FREE GASOLINE for one whole year OR would you rather have a dream vacation to any destination, all expenses paid, plus $1000 spending money?♥

I can't wait to read your answers! The winner will be announced on Monday!

My "blonde" friends, so I call them (hee hee) are coming over this weekend to celebrate a birthday, so I have lots to get ready....I hope every one's weekend is full of family, friends and FUN!

HAPPY WEEKEND!

Sneak Peak...

Lily's Polka Dot Party preparations are in full swing!
The invites were sent....so much cuter in person....very sparkly and cute!

And, here's a little sneak peak at her party attire....something that required no pattern, heheehee....

Anyone have any cute "polka dot" food ideas? So far, I'm thinking...meatballs, circle finger sandwiches, melon balls.....that's all I got....need your help!

September 16, 2008

I'm Such a Caveman...

Well, maybe not a caveman.......how about a cavewoman? Cuz, I had a real bad itch today! An itch to sew something for Lily and I had no pattern, no direction, no nothing......only a thought. So, what's a cavewoman to do? Break all sewing rules and get out some old grocery bags to cut a little cavebaby dress pattern. I just eyed it up and tried to picture her measurements (baaad way to do this) and cut it out....
I sewed it up and it looked kinda cute hanging on the tree. I waited patiently for the little one to wake up from her nap. That would be the true test.
OMIGOD. Not quite right, that's for sure!! Too long, crooked, arm holes too big, no idea what to do with those straps. TERRIBLE! Laughable, actually! Sometimes, ya just gotta laugh at yourself, right? Ugh. Lesson learned.....no more cavewoman.....USE A PATTERN.
This frock is going in the scraps bin!

Hey, you...sewers (is that really a word?).....I know there's someone out there that just drafts up their own patterns.....gimme a hint or 2!

Some of you may have already read this book or know about the famous poem from the author, Dorothy Law Noble.....but I wanted to share anyways. I love this book! I love the messages it sends and the way it inspires me to want to be a better parent every day. I sometimes need reminders....I am not perfect that's for sure. It's nice to have refreshers on the inspiring values I know I want to Lily to "live". It talks about everything from self-worth to patience.

In case you are not familiar with the "poem"....here it is.....

Children Learn What They Live

If children live with criticism, they learn to condemn
If children live with hostility, they learn to fight
If children live with pity, they learn to feel sorry for themselves
If children live with jealousy, they learn to feel envy
If children live with shame, they learn to feel guilty
If children live with encouragement, they learn confidence
If children live with tolerance, they learn patience
If children live with praise, they learn appreciation
If children live with acceptance, they learn love
If children live with approval, they learn to like themselves
If children live with recognition, they learn it's good to have a goal
If children live with sharing, they learn generosity
If children live with honesty, they learn truthfulness
If children live with fairness, they learn justice
If children live with kindness and consideration, they learn respect
If children live with security, they learn to have faith in themselves and in those about them
If children live with friendliness, they learn the world is a nice place in which to live

Happy day!

Yummy!

Most of you know that I looooove Fall. In Wisconsin, we sometimes barely get to enjoy Fall before the snow starts coming....and coming and coming.

One of my most favorite things about Fall is yummy food and my yummiest favorite?? Caramel apples. I ususally get the handmade ones from the grocery store, but they haven't started making them yet and I had a craving. So......I made some myself using Kraft caramel squares (I can't wait til I have a grown up Lily to help me do those tedious jobs like unwrapping 100 caramels!)......and then I dipped them into more of my favorites: almonds and pecans....YUMMY YUMMY!!

Two of them are already gone (I have such a sweet tooth), hee hee.............OoOh, my dentist is going to hate me!

Need more yummy & sweet?

How about this polka dotted stationary holder? Crafted of felt, fabric and ribbons.....yummy cards in cupcake themes.....snug inside....And, ya know I couldn't leave my sweet owl out of the fun! She's perched up on a felt and fabric tree, admiring the views...Yep....a set of cards in there, too!Take a peek at them over at Lemon Tree!

Lots of new goodies also coming to the shop in the coming days.....

Someone was not a happy camper when it came time to pick a winner for ♥FREEBIE FRIDAY♥.....

I think I planned it a little too close to naptime...anyway, she did pick up a pile of names and I kept trying to take them out of her hands and back to the floor and she got more and more angry at me for doing this!! In the end, she settled on one name.....And, it's JUDI.......congrats to you!

Please email me your info at lemon_tree_studio@yahoo.com, and we will get your goodies out to you!

Have a happy Sunday!!

P.s. I made my first Tater Tot casserole, thanks to April ....and, yep it was very very yummy!

♥FREEBIE FRIDAY♥

If you have your volume turned up, you can hear a little bit 'o Raffi ......"Shake my Sillies Out"!

I caught Lily in the corner by the CD player dancing and groovin' to this song yesterday.....it was the funniest and cutest thing! I was so busy admiring her moves I forgot to get some pics. She loves all his songs and I know them all by heart now, trust me! She loves him, Dr. Jean and Greg & Steve. They all have awesome, kid-friendly cd's with catchy beats and fun learning songs to boot! Yep, dancin' queen was in the hoooouse!

Thank you to a little birdie for alerting me to this darling lamp that's waiting for me at Urban Outfitters!

I haven't been there in FOREVER, but they have a some very unique little items there.....

Cute!

Cute!

Cute! Cute!

And, then I saw these.......

Seriously.....would you wear these? Ouch.

Those look like they would do more than just cause blisters, my friend.

Nope, I passed on the shoes. Wouldn't be prudent......at least not on my feet.

So this Friday's freebie is one for the girls.....

A set of apple and red hair pretties.....3 clips and one pony tail holder....And.......many of you know sweet April.....well, she donated some yummy nursery rhyme posies for you, too

Yep, that's right! Aren't they oh so cute......perfect for pretty-ing up lots things.

.....fresh from her Jane Says shop. You should do yourself a favor and peek in there.....lots and lots of yummy stuff!

And, the best part?? She is having an END OF SUMMER SALE!! Be sure to check that out!

All can be yours......

My sweetie-pie will pick a name on Sunday.......all ya gotta do is answer (to this post).....

Gotta Keep Those Snoopers Away!

Hello friends! I hope your day is going well....
Notice that my "favorites" are missing? Well, it's full swing Holiday season around here and I am starting my etsy Christmas shopping! So, I made them private for right now to keep my "snoopers" from peeking in at what they may be getting -- hee hee! Sorry if you like to poke around there and see what's new (I love doing that too!).....wont be back up until I get all my shopping done.
In the mean time, here's some fun fall goodies that hit Lemon Tree this morning!

Be sure to peek back in tomorrow for a fun and girly giveaway!

P.S. Please take moment today to remember those lost on this tragic day, 7 years ago.

♥FREEBIE FRIDAY♥

Can it really be Friday already?? My, my how the week flies when it's a shorty! Thank you, Labor Day!
This post is gonna be a shorty, too!

Sweet Archiver's sent me that irritating 30% off coupon......again, hehehe he hee. You know what that means.....trip to Archiver's.
I didn't even let 24 hours pass. Yes, I am crazy. And impatient. So, I am there....oh, hmmm....what do I need, what do I need? Paper? Stamps? Ink? Brads? Punchers? Ribbon? Buttons? Rub ons? ARGH!!! I always use my 30% off coupon on things that are like $7. I needed something.........MORE!
Meet my new laptop bag...
Isn't it CA-UUUTE?? I have seen these Amy Butler "Creativity" bags there before but always thought...."what would I do with that anyways? I never tote my (creative stuff) around!".

It has a padded section, dividers, pockets galore and even a little outside pouch for my cell. The best part is the strap----super, duper thick and padded. And, isn't the fabric perfect??

This purchase is the inspiration for my ♥FREEBIE FRIDAY♥.....

You could get a set of 10 Amy Butler jumbo tags from the "Sola" collection....

And.......a fat quarter from my Amy Butler fabric stash, which I have been happily hording!

All ya gotta do is comment to this post, answering this question.....

Do you ever use coupons?? If so, for what/where?

(I'm not a full on "grocery store coupon girl", but I do love my Hob Lob, Joann's, Michael's coupons!!)

I've Often Wondered....

Hello hello!
What's going on in your neck of the woods? It's a dreary, dreary day here....rain, rain go away! This weather makes me want to crawl back into bed and sleep the day away. But, no can do! Lots and lots to be accomplished!!

As I am typing this, I have often wondered.....who's behind the words on all of my favoite blogs? Would we be friends in "real life"? Would we have anything in common (besides the obvious). I try to let readers into snippets of my world, but in the big picture, lots of things are "left out"....know what I mean? Do you do this on your blog? Or are you a completely open book?
Would you even like me? Would I like you? Would you think I'm funny, sassy, smart, irritating or would you think I'm sweet and loveable? Are you a "different" person face to face than you are when typing behind the safety of cyber world? Are you outgoing or shy?
Do you have an accent? LOL! Those are just a few things I wonder....and I found this funny quiz.....called "What American Accent do you Have?". It's short and easy.
I always say "I don't have an accent!" but when traveling, strangers will always say to me "oh, yes...you have an accent, you're from Milwaukee"......which is close, but not quite! It's interesting (well, at least to me it is). Here are my results......
What American accent do you have?

Your Result: The Midland

"You have a Midland accent" is just another way of saying "you don't have an accent." You probably are from the Midland (Pennsylvania, southern Ohio, southern Indiana, southern Illinois, and Missouri) but then for all we know you could be from Florida or Charleston or one of those big southern cities like Atlanta or Dallas. You have a good voice for TV and radio.

The West

The Inland North

Boston

North Central

The Northeast

Philadelphia

The South

What American accent do you have?
Quiz Created on GoToQuiz

CLICK on the "What American accent do you have?" and post the results in your blog (or post your answers in a comment to this post). I am so interested in seeing my fav bloggy people's results.....I already have some ideas in mind as to who may have accents, just based on your locations! I picture lots of sounthern accents!
I wish that some of you lived closer and we could all get together and have a huge CRAFT-FEST! We'd all hop on a huge charter bus and make the rounds to thrift stores and Target and then rent a huge room where we could laugh the day away telling stories and crafting. Doesn't that sound like fun?? It does to me!
Basically, I just wanted to say THANK YOU for taking time out of your busy lives to read my blog. I hope that I can make you giggle and inspire you, because that is what so many of you do for me!
Have a happy (and productive) day!

Do You Get Suckered?

Well....what I mean is....do you get "sucked in"?

I do. Pier One Imports sucked me right in and they did it today. I have not been there in ages, simply because I was startin' to think they're stuff was....well, ugly. Bad colors, cheap looking decor, blah housewares.....it left a bad taste in my mouth and so I hadn't been there since I was pregnant. WELL, today I got a catalog from them and the cover sucked me right in! Like a dog on a scent, I scooped up Lily and we charged right over there!

I wasn't looking for anything in particular, I just loved all the fall colors they had on display.....and I noticed a few other "things".....

I mean c'mon! They're even on the tin of mints for cryin' out loud. I held back...didn't buy them. There was even a little fella that got all cozy in Lily's stoller.....

He came home with us.

And a gotta few little goodies for the Fall Swap I am participating in......*wink wink*!

And, could NOT leave without my all time favorite candle scent....Asian Spice....oh so yummy, smells up your whole house, you should sniff it next time you wander in... (if ya like that kinda thing)

I felt so much better after I got that trip out of my system....like I could finish the rest of my day now. Dang them for sending me that cute catalog!

Any places "sucker" you in?? Ever?

....and the winner is..........

She goes right for the edge.......unusual "safe" move for her......
she's got it.....who is it??Hmmm.....
.........it says......... DENISE!
Congrats to you......you won all the owl goodies from ♥FREEBIE FRIDAY♥!!
Convo me through Lemon Tree Studio to claim your stuff!!
THANK YOU to everyone who "participated".....I hope some of you found a new etsy shop to ♥.....and maybe a few new stamps to add to your collection!

.......and then she was off.......bored with the whole "picking mama a winner" thing.

We hope everyone had a safe and fun Labor Day weekend!
(more to come later......)
