I Swore I'd Never do it....

**UPDATE: GO HERE for a chance to win a "vintage baby" set!!

When I was pregnant, I told myself......"if I end up having a girl, there is NO WAY I am going to be running around in those cheesy 'mommy & me' outfits!" Fast forward to today and what do I go and do? Yep, bought me and the L some matching clothes. OK, well at least they are only PJ's....we wont be leavin the house with these on together..... Seriously.....how on earth was I going to leave these hoots at Tar-jey? C'mon now! I am doing a fist pump in the air right now aimed at the big "T" for taking so much of my money every single week!! And it wasn't good enough for me to just get the pj pants, no I had to have the owl sleep dress (?) too....and these Halloween owl pj's. Yep, I guess I have officially reached full on owl-obsession status.
Which brings me to my next owl-y thing.....meet Stephanie the Owl..... She's a hand puppet....a full figured hand puppet....aint she sweet?? I made a few puppets for Lily and she really loves them. I put on puppet shows for her all the time while she's in her crib and I have never heard her laugh so hard! Or is that from my singing? AnyHoo, I decided to try my luck with her on etsy.....you can catch more of Stephanie HERE.

Are ya sick of the owls yet? I hope not, because I want to show you one last little goodie..... This home made "Trick-or-Treat" bag....lots and lots of room for treats, that's for sure!I could NOT sleep last night (maybe it was that Starbucks at 8pm I had) and I was up until 1am making this goodie bag....all from my fabric and felt stash....gotta keep using that up, it's still growing! You can see more of this bag HERE!

Don't forget to participate in the Polka Dot Giveaways!!

Have a terrific Tuesday!

Weekend Recipes

SUNNY PHOTO OP

Ingredients:

*cute girl
*sunglasses
*pigtails
*bucket full of nature
*pretty and fun hand-me-down top (thank you, Chloe's Mama...sweet of ya to pass this along)
*camera

Had the bucket of nature, but cute girl was NOT interested in its contents. Found the grass to be more interesting...Pigtails: check! The top is a bit large still, so we had to rig it up with a hair pretty..... Some one's sick of this "photo op".....

RIBBON SHAKERS

Ingredients:

*ribbon stash
*craft "circles"....lots of sizes available
*sewing machine or thread/needle
*scissors
*cute girl
*camera

Just fold several pieces of ribbon over the craft circle and make sure to sew across them for durability.....

Let your little one shake 'em like crazy to see all the pretty colors flying around!

These are fun to make with older kids.....they can pick out the ribbons themselves and knot them on.....and use them for dancing or decoration....either way, they sure are fun to look at....Lily was fascinated by these!

I have been reading on some of my favorite blogs, here and here about using muffin tins and such for serving food to kids...well, I thought Lily might be ready for this since she is now eating lots of chopped up stuff.....and she's having a hard time grasping the slippery foods off of her high chair tray. So, I found these cute little ice cube trays in a long rectangle shape..... And they're rubbery soft, perfect for little fingers to manipulate. Yummy chopped up avocados, bananas, yogurt melts...all her favorites! She scanned it for a bit before digging in....it gets an "A"--I love these things!
♥ ♥ ♥

Besides taking 100's of pictures, I also worked on putting together some crafty kits.....like this

I LOVE OWLS KIT

And this sugary sweet CUPCAKE CUTIE KIT

And, although not a kit, these dangle-y owl tags hit the shop today, too!

Lily was not particularly in the mood to be picking out the winning name today for FREEBIE FRIDAY, but she obliged me just long enough to get a non-blurry shot....and the winner is Michele, from Calico Daisy ! This was seconds before her afternoon nap....and she was not a happy camper.

Congrats to Michele, convo me your info so I can get this goody pack out to you asap!

Happy Sunday and don't forget to head on over to On the Dot Creations tomorrow for the start of all the fun giveaways!! I'm definitely going to be participating....see ya there!

♥FREEBIE FRIDAY♥

Hola! Lily says....happy, happy Friday all! She's makin' sure it's a good, CLEAN Friday with all those wipes! I know it's still 2 months away, but I'm thinking about Lily's first Halloween costume.....I'm not a big "Halloweener", but I do like the idea of my dolly all dressed up in a fun outfit. Remember, I do like my photo-op's! You've probably already guessed that I want Lil to be an owl this year.....and let me tell you, there are NOT very many cute pre-made options out there......
Nope, not quite...

Naw....cute kid, ugly costume...
NEVER, no way....this looks like the scratchy-est polyester ever made. So, then I was thinking....scrap the owl idea and maybe a peacock? Getting cuter....

Just not quite what I had in mind...so, I guess I will have to go the old fashioned route and make my own....anyone got any ideas?? I am in love with this this hat ...so I was thinking of incorporating it somehow.

And, even though it's not even Fall yet, I have been working on Christmas goodies already....can't help it. I see all the yummy holiday papers and embellishments and I wanna create, create, create!

Holiday Hoots..And sweet lil cozy Christmas cards...Snatch 'em up at the SHOP. And I can't wait to see all the other shop's fun etsy goodies in store for the holidays.....I am going to try and do most of my Christmas shopping there....whooo hoo, go HANDMADE!

Also at Lemon Tree, I have tried my hand at putting together a sweet little kit entitled "Moments of Splendor" .....which includes lots and lots of embellies....over 50 pieces!

So for this Friday's Freebie, I'm gonna get your creative juices flowing with something fun.....how about a little crafty pack of Fall goodies? You'll get this bag full of autumn themed papers, ribbon, buttons, and more! Don't do paper crafts? Well, then give it to someone who will!

Miss Thang here (bossin the boys around already) will help mama by picking a name on Sunday!Poor little guy.....it's like he just gave up..... All you gotta do it leave a comment to this post by answering this question.....

What is your favorite holiday tradition??

Have a happy weekend!

Stamp Happy!

Looky what the mail-lady brought for me today!!!! Yep, that's right....NINE 7 Gypsies!! I love these stamps! THANK YOU soo so much to my sweet bloggy friend, KIMBERLY for sending them my way....you are such a sweet-pea!
And on the topic of stamps.....just so you, I was NEVER a "stamp gal"....I never used them for scrapbooking, card-making or anything...I thought they were too much work. But now, my collection has GROWN and I have hundreds of my favs--acrylic stamps. I just love their versatility.....the possibilites are endless. A couple years back, I saw the most amazing layout in a magazine (wish I could find it to show you) and it was created mostly with stamps. So, now I use them all the time and can't imagine scrappin' without them---funny how things change.

What I do hate having to buy are these EXPENSIVE acrylic mounting blocks.....the stamps themselves are expensive enough! I have a few in larger sizes, but I have so many teeny tiny acrylic stamps that get lost on those big blocks! I end up getting the ink everywhere and making a mess (I'm a messy crafter anyways).

So, a while back I found these nifty little, clear plastic circles.....they are those "furniture thingy's"....I think you're supposed to put them under your furniture to make it "slide" easily for re-arranging....?

Well, I use them for mounting my teeny stamps and they work PERFECT. And, they are cheap...I found a set of 6 of them for under $3.00 and I use them all the time now!
For cute little tags....
For fun cards....

And I found this adorable hedgehog acrylic stamp from PUNKFROG on etsy....cute cute!

Now go get yourself some "furniture thingy's" and get stampin'!
Happy Hump Day!

I so did not want to leave her, but I had 7th row tickets to see Dave Matthews Band with the girls! Normally we would have gone to both shows, two nights, but....NO WAY! My friend, Stephanie had her first baby 6 months ago and we just couldn't bring ourselves to stay away for more than one night.....here we are posing for one of the many, many pics that we took! And, here's us with Heather, our other BF.....I call them my blondies....yep, we're the three musketeers! And, for us the best part about being together is getting "ready"! Listening to music, sharing funny stories, trying on outfits, and just bein' silly! And, this trip was EXTRA special, cuz those sneaky gals had a surprise brewing for me.....they had planned to celebrate my birthday on this trip since Heather lives so far away.....and so they had the hotel room decorated in pink streamers, signs and tasty desserts before I got there and I was shocked!!! I was very touched to see how much effort they had put in to make my night away so special. I just love you girls!! Thank you so so much for making me feel like a princess and for all that you do, you are truly priceless.....you guys are the reason I stay sane....you listen to me, help me, put me in my place when I need it and are all around PERFECTION in my eyes! I don't know what I would do without either of you!............And, Stephanie was snooping around in my etsy "favorites"......and handed me a little package with these yummy owl stamps!!! She's so sneaky!! These fabulous stamps are from Sideshow Stamps and were in my favorites forever!! Head on over to their shop right now....you'll be happy you did!!!

Aren't they cute??? I was so excited to use them, I got busy right away with these cute gift tags.....get 'em at the SHOP!

And, I was in the mood for cards...here's a couple flyin' into the shop today!

And, there you have it! Little tidbits of me....maybe you knew already, maybe not...

And, the next "tag" I have for you is the tutorial on the clear vinyl tags.....it's my first time, so if anything seems off or doesn't make any sense, let me know!
(please use this tutorial for personal use only, thanks!)

Here's what you will need:

--sewing machine, clear vinyl, scissors, colorful thread, metallic pipe cleaners, fun ribbons, sequins, paper, eyelets (I use size 1/3 X 3/16 inch), eyelet setter, hammer, small hole puncher, rotary cutter, ruler, cutting mat

The first thing I do is "square off" the vinyl. If you have ever bought fabric, you know that when you get it home, it looks like a toddler cut it, well the same thing goes for the vinyl. I use my rotary cutter, ruler and cutting mat to make sure I have even edges. Of course, you do not need these supplies if you trust that you can cut straight & pretty good.Once, you made sure your vinyl is all even, time to cut out the rectangles! I always make sure to fold the vinyl in half so that I am cutting the top and the bottom of the tags at the same time. I have made all of my tags 5 X 3 inches, so that is how I cut the vinyl....and I make alot, so here is my pile of 5 X 3 vinyl rectangles, ready to be turned into pretty tags!I take the top and bottom piece of cut out vinyl and begin sewing around one long end, one short end and then back up the other long end, make sure to leave one short end unsewn (to use as opening to fill with goodies). PLEASE NOTE: Make sure to start this project with a fresh, brand new needle as the vinyl is thick and can be diffucult to sew through.....and have plenty of new needles available.....I have broken many of them sewing through this stuff!Once you have sewn up 3 sides, you can now put in your fun stuff! I add in a "happy birthday" circle or whatever tickles your fancy...and don't forget any glitter or confetti!I would make sure not to fill it up too much, since it gets tight in there pretty quickly, and you still need to be able to sew it shut! Which is what you do next.......I sew the open side shut first and then I go around the entire tag again.....and again! I usually go around 2 or 3 times.....because I like how the stitching looks, but you can do it however you like....and it doesn't need to be perfect! Have fun with it...maybe use decorative stitches?Next, use a tiny hole punch to make a hole somewhere at the top of the tag....and then put an eyelet into that hole.....Then, get out your hammer & eyelet setter and hammer that eyelet flat (make sure to turn your tag upside down, so you're hammering the back side of the eyelet!). It ususally only takes one quick blow and it's flat. Then you just slide your pipecleaner through the eyelet, fold it up and twist.....add whatever pretty ribbons you like! If you decide to make any, link me or send me some pics! Would love to see! I have more holiday ones coming to the SHOP soon as well and some clear cards and a very very VERY fun project I am working on for Lily, using this vinyl....you'll have to wait and see!

Now for the last bit of fun "tag" news......have you seen that cute little "ad" over to the right of my blog?? The one about the POLKA DOT GIVEAWAYS!!! Julie from ON THE DOT CREATIONS is hosting a party to celebrate the 6 month "blog-iversary" of her fabulous blog. She will be having all kinds of fun stuff going on, so be sure to check it out. And, she has alot of etsy shops participating in GIVAWAYS!

I will be one of the shops.....so don't miss out! I decided on a themed giveaway...of course with polka-dotted yumminess. My theme is "Vintage Baby" and you could get all of these fun goodies, in one sweet package ($20 value!):

A set of three baby gift tags.....

1 fabric gift card holder....

And a set of two jumbo cards...

All of which were made using vintage fabric, paper and trims, like yummy swiss dotted fabric, crochet lace and children's book pages from the 50's and 60's! Something similar will also be in the shop soon, but why not try to get this package for free??

I hope to see you participate!

Off to enjoy the rest of the day.....xoxo

A Fun Milestone...and ALOT More!

People who know me in the "real" world, know that I am not a braggart & I hope you bloggy friends don't think I am one either(!!)......but, I am soooo so proud of my daughter that I am bursting at the seams! On Saturday, Lily took her first steps all by herself!! She took about 7 steps alone, but I was shouting with glee watching her and slapping my hands together so loudly that I scared her, LOL! Then, over the rest of the weekend she made several more attemps at the whole "walking" thing and she is so delighted at what her feet can do for her!!

And, there she goes tryin to get up those stairs again!! Come on.....get those gates here already!

We also had some messy sensory fun with this edible play-doh recipe....perfect for babies and toddlers! And she really seemed to like squishing it.....wanna try some? It's simple and all you need is....

Just mix two parts oatmeal to one part each of water and flour, then I added in some sweet almond oil. I even used baby oatmeal (you could also use the rice or multigrain baby cereals). Mish-mash it up to form a dough and there you have it! Simple, easy, safe!

Lily loves using "real-life" stuff versus her boring toys, so I threw in some spoons, mini bowls, cookie cutters and measuring cups for added fun. Just make sure not to leave the room if you're giving it to a little guy/gal....I'm sure if you don't pay attention, and they get extra curious, a huge wad of this could get caught in their throat....so be careful (I know you know, just want to add that little disclaimer).

Just us girls also went and did a little sale shopping this weekend....thanks to my friend, Casey, who sent us a 25% off coupon to Old Navy & Gap, and I got to use it at both stores! Lily walked away with some cute finds, I must say....these are form Old Navy.....
And (oh, how I love you!) these are from Baby Gap.....note the cute embroidered birdie, mhm!

I have NOT been in the market to buy clothes for myself lately, but I did pick up this little outfit from Old Navy....and PLEASE NOTE the elastic waistband....a key "must have" for me right now!! No elastic, then NO CAN DO! Not unless I want to show the world my lovely muffin top!

While we're on the subject of food, I have decided that I am a "wannabe" au natural mom when it comes to Lily's food. I bought this fancy-schmancy food processor, thinking, "how good of a mom will I be when I buy all organic, fresh, farmer's market fruits and veggies and grind 'em up myself....all for the nugget".....well, here it is....in the box. I have used it once.

Instead, I have resorted for the wimpy & lazy way out. Here's Lily's pantry and as you can see....nope, no fresh stuff in there!

Do any of you go the "fresh food" route? If so, what's your secret for making it easy, fast and worthwhile? I so want to do it but everytime I think of hauling that machine out, I cringe. I will get better once she starts eating more table foods!

I've been a busy bee today for my "craftin' Sunday", and made these fun, clear tags in the spirit of winter and Christmas!

They hit the SHOP today and are on a winter PRE-SALE, so get 'em now while they are on sale!! I'm also working on a "shabby pink" version and a more colorful one! They're so so cute!

Speaking of etsy, I snagged a treasury today and featured some fun tags from my blog readers.....so see if you're in the TREASURY and click on all of them to make it hot hot hot!!

OK, now on to the winner of ♥FREEBIE FRIDAY♥......

I thought it was very very sweet of most of you to guess that my dolly was a petite little thang when she burst into the world! If only! I had the BEST & easiest labor and birth experience ever, so I can't complain, but she was no lightweight.

SOooooo....she was born at 7:39pm

and she weighed in at 8 lbs, 13 oz

The winner of the Heather Bailey fun pack is LINDSAY for guessing 6:30pm...she was the closest!

and a little surprise gift will go out to KATHY who guessed her birth weight RIGHT ON!!

Please forward your info to me girls! lemon_tree_studio@yahoo.com

Hope everyone enjoyed their weekend! Off to do more cratfing! xoxo
