Can you believe 2009 is almost over??

In just a couple short days, we will be ringing in a new year, yahoo!!

I am excited for my ONE new year's resolution (we'll talk about that later!).

I am mostly looking forward to the many changes that Lily will go through as she grows and learns in 2010. She'll turn another year older (ick, so will I).....there are SO many sweet memories to be made! I can't wait.

Etsy has also been a happy part of my world in 2009 I have *met* the nicest people and made some of the yummiest purchases EVER!

We hope your Christmas was a jolly one.

We were on a little holiday......just a short 3.5 hour plane ride and Lily was running into grandma's arms!

{no, this is not our tree, it was featured on etsy's Holiday Greeting's page.....isn't is dazzling?? Such a picture of inspiration, I love it!}

We spent our time away.......relaxing, catching up on sleep, loving up our family and counting our many blessings. Nothing and I mean nadda is better than watching your child's face light up when they see something new and awe-inspiring. And there was plenty of that where we were. This polar bear is ALL FLOWERS......beauts! My little bean, workin' her owl turtle-neck...you go girl! Pretty lights everywhere of course!
Then the best part? Our little threesome spent Christmas day together at home.....pure bliss. Lily's favorite part was playing with her new "chunky" dollhouse. Perfect for little fingers....And Lily loved making her little paper angels. {Thank you, Crystal!}. They even made their way into the new house... Hope your Christmas was just as cozy.....looking forward to catching up with all my blog reading!

I am hoping all this snow melts away, because it makes us feel holed up and eat, eat, eat!

I am so not a baker...heck no! I can not even remember the last time I ever baked a cake. Maybe some cupcakes about a year ago? I have made a pan of brownies {no, not from scratch} here and there. I always see tempting recipes when blog jogging, but I have yet to really get down to business.

Lily told me she wanted an "apple cake", I think this was courtesy of Strawberry Shortcake. I was happy to oblige, because Betty called my name out in the "baking aisle". She assured me everything would turn out just fine. Lil Miss Crocker was all ready to go....even trying to push her Learning Tower over to the counter. {more on this tower thingy later} I love that face of concentration. She wanted to eat the raw eggs, too....
I barely lifted a finger. This baking thing is easy-peasy....I should do this more often.

I did put down the camera long enough to help plop the manufactured dough into a pan and toss it in the oven. Someone was so, sooo proud! And, they didn't turn out half bad. Edible, actually!
Fresh baked "apple cake"....and Lily loved baking them. I heart these little learning mama-lily moments. We had so much fun, I am going to make an effort to print off all those recipes I have been drooling over!

**And, if you have an 18 month child or older and looking for one of the best (safest)educational tools out there....I would highly recommend you get that super handy Learning Tower. I got one for Lily because she likes to be up where I am....I used to sit her on the counter, but that's not exactly the safest. It's perfection. We use it for lots of self-help things like hand washing, teeth brushing, etc. And, she uses it to wash her toys and dishes, help mama cook and she has started making her own little things like peanut butter and jelly sandwiches. I love how it fosters her independance....and the best part is that when it's not in the kitchen, we use it as a large motor climbing tower! My 2 cents, hehehe**

AND......

Out came the pink (like it ever left).......look for lots and lots of ruffles, frills and lace....

at Lemon Tree.....now that it's time to add lovey-dovey Valentine's Day goodies, YAY! Little peeks....LOTS more to come

I have been telling Lily that she will soon get to "build a bear"...and she questioned me about it DAILY. Until finally, the day arrived!

Ever been? Of course, this place is pure bliss for a 2 year old. Every kind of "soon to be stuffed" animals everywhere, the colors, the lights.....sensory overload.

Step one: choose your animal.... She fell in love with many, of course. Decisions, decisions!
Step two: Pick out a little fabric filled heart for your animal.....then, have your animal stuffed
(I dunno about you, but this stuffing machine creeps me out a wee bit) Step Three: Take your newly stuffed animal and shop for clothing {this is where they get you to really burn up your wallet}.
But my little penny pincher only wanted a pair of pink sweater boots for her....bunny. Ah, my little frugal shopper in the making, mama loves you.

Step Four: Love up your newly adopted stuffed ani. Then, keep telling mama that she is your "bess frien" and how much you love her. Aw.

Hello from Crazy Town!!!

Trying to keep my head above water is so much fun..hahahaa!

There is definitely no shortage of things to do around here. I'm sure you feel my pain, especially this time of year.

Speaking of things to do......So a few years back, I found a grungy old brass {ick} chandelier. It was 50 cents at a garage sale. SCORE! I could see the light at the end of the tunnel... I painted it white right when I got it.

And then it sat. For about 3 years.

I had every intention of cute-i-fying it and hanging it over our guest bathtub. Well, along came a pregnant me...and the rest is history!

BUT! Remember, I am in the process of decorating Lily's Big Girl Room...

I happened upon this pile of fabulous. I bought all of these vintage {ohhh}, beaded {ahhh} ornaments at a church basement sale...aren't they divine?? 75 cents for each package of 3. Ummm, okay! So this weekend I had a vision....why not put this old/new chandy in Lily's room. It's perfect for her {me}....bright, colorful, pretty...love it. Do you agree that these vintage ornaments were MADE for it?? Throw on some strands of beads, viola! Of course, it's not done, not even close.....but I can envision it in my head. The only thing is.......when I bought this to hang in our guest bathroom, I was going to attach vintage china to the tops (where the bulbs would go) and place candles on the plates. So, I cut all the electrical cords right off!

Does anyone know if there is any hope of me getting it to work again? Or is it destined to be a "look at me, I'm pretty but don't work" chandy?

Once I can get back into decorating her playroom...updates and ideas will come, stay tuned!

And, although I love the holidays.....I am thrilled to announce that I have put away ALL of my Christmas crafty stuff...goodbye red and green....

See ya in about a year. Lemon Tree is so ready for some fun, new NON holiday goodies!

I have had these flowers, deer and mushrooms foreva...needed an excuse to get them out. And this little scenic box makes me smile. Happy and smiling...that's how i feel when I look in there. I want to crawl in there and sleep on a flower petal...LOVE.

If you live in the Midwest, then you may be seeing a lot of this out your front door!It started snowing last night while I was working on customs. An hour later, I hear a huge POP and the power goes off. Buh bye, sewing machine. So, I went to bed early, this is unheard of.

And, poor Owen couldn't even go potty this morning until daddy shoveled a little path. The snow was taller than him in some spots!

This little one thought she could conquer the snow......
....but, she kept getting stuck...and frustrated. Argh!
She kept on trying. Until her face went into the cold, her mittens fell off and her boots got too heavy with snow. Much crying followed. Actually, it was more like wailing. And then after 10 minutes of being inside, she wanted to go back out!
Since we were holed up, it gave me some much needed time to clean up my sewing room. I am telling you....it was BAD. Shameful bad. I'm a little more than halfway through...yay! Once I get things in order, I can give you a 2010 tour. Then on to more custom orders...and a few new goodies for the shop.

Love these birdies, love this fabric...YUMMY-licious!

I'll be working into the wee hours tonight, I'm sure. Will you be joining me? I'll be thinking of ya!

{sleep is soo over-rated anyways}.

We're here. We're COLD!

Yesterday while Lily napped, I cleaned (what's that?) and watched the prettiest, hugest snowflakes ever....falling to the ground. I thought it wasn't cold enough for the snow to stick around, but....Check it. Not going to be over 40 degrees here any time soon... Goodbye Fall, see ya later. I think this white stuff is here to stay.

I couldn't wait for the Bean to wake up so we could play outside. Spending last winter on the beach, she never got to see snow!

Mr. Owen didn't much like the cold. He's of the dainty sort....not a very manly man kind of pooch....bless him.
But, he is so cute isn't he?

Oh how I loved watching her eyes light up when she saw the snow...she was literally shaking with excitement! {Sorry for the wonky pictures.....I still don't know what I am doing when taking pics at night. Speaking of which, don't you just hate how early it gets DARK?? Grrrr....}

She could hardly bend her joints with all the gear on, but still loved evey minute...

"Let's go toobogon, mama" is what she kept telling me. From the show, Caillou....where he goes tobogganing.....Ugh, I could just eat this girl up!

We're buried inside, too! Buried in the holiday rush, buried in fabric...trying to catch up....and stay sane....

But, nothing will stop us from having fun along the way!

Thanksgiving dinner was a success! No one passed out or got food poisoning, so ha!~ {that's how I define success}.

Thankful....so so thankful!

We started a new tradition this year, just our little threesome.....

Its been decided that we are going to work together on Thanksgiving night to get our holiday goodies and trimming out. This year the Lil-ster got her very own Christmas tree AND a wee table top tree, which she has been waiting patiently to put up. (I see you eyeing up the fabulous handmade vintage table runner, April....no, it is not for sale.)Lily even helped pick out all the sweet red ornies.....and the tall, sparkly "Sanna"....how can anyone live with out red and turquoise??? Makes my heart beat faster, no lie.Good job, Lily! I so wish we had a mantle in our main living area......but this display looks just as cute on a table! I will tell you though....she makes 33 daily trips to the chairs surrounding this table to reach up and redecorate the tree, move the picture frames, throw the blocks in her playroom and rolls up the table runner.Do your table a favor and get some red and turquoise on it!

I am crazy.

This year I decided I was going to cook an entire Thanksgiving dinner.

I do not really cook extravagant things.....I dabble. And, I hardly EVER bake.

I need your advice...I know I have readers who are AWESOME cooks, bakers, downright Miss Betty Crocker's. HELP a girl out!Tell me....what's the BEST way to cook a turkey? In a bag, baked, broiled, fried?
And.....what are the absolute MUST HAVE, "can not live without" side dishes?

Feel free to send me a recipe or a link....I am in need, domestic goddess's!

I think depending on where you live, these options will be very different (which I love and want to know!)

I only have a week....yikes! Let the coutdown begin....

.....STARBUCKS junkie.

That's what I am creating......unbeknownst to me!

I like coffee. I LOVE Starbucks. I love going with my friend and her little man....we check out the new holiday drink options...yum!
Where does my little coffee bean run to when we get inside?Right to the chocolate milk. We love the banana bread too...and the pumpkin bread, cookies, lemon bars...you get the idea. We are fans.
This one loves that milk, loves drinking it out of her "big girl" cup with ice and a straw. (Doesn't like posing for pictures, much) And, I love my Skim Peppermint Mocha. DELISH.....I love it year round, not just this time of year. And....can you BElive that I just recently found out that you can order as many "pumps" as you want with your drink?? I am SO dumb for not ever asking this before. But, now my Peppermint Mocha's are SO much better tasting with only one pump peppermint, one pump mocha {the original has 4 (F.O.U.R.) pumps of EACH--8 pumps total! WOW.}

So...yep, we are Starbucks junkies here.

I am only slightly ashamed to tell you that EVERY single time we pull up to Target, Lily shouts out, "COFFEEEE, mama!"

What's your favorite Starbucks (or other coffee shop) drink?? I am up for trying some new ones!

Welcome to my Head

Have you ever heard the song, "Let You Down"?

"I have no lid upon my head, but if I did....you could look inside and see what's on my mind"

My head is swirling, like usual. Do you ever feel like you have a never-ending, constant stream of ideas, projects, to-do's running through your daily thoughts? So much so that almost everything you do/see evokes a new set of ideas?

Take today for example.

Reading books to Lily {innocent enough, right?}....but some of the pictures in the books stir up more creative ideas. Ugh. I seriously can't help it! And my head feels like it could burst.....with overload. Sounds silly I know...I just can't think of any other way to describe it!

And, it drives me a little batty to have heaps of crafty papers and fabric, waiting for me......screaming "do me next!"

Like this poor pile of fabrics that was waiting to be made into my new Fall purse. It's the middle of November now and I still have not found time to work on it!

And, don't even get me started on this pile. I could dive into it, roll around in it, sleep in it, stare it all day long. Yes, ladies....I have officially become the midwest's biggest horder of "Summer in the City" fabrics. I have every single piece from the entire line and I am terrified to cut into it. I started a quilt 2 years ago with a charm pack and then I panicked. *I warn you not to enlarge this picture, for fear of uncontrollable drooling.

Now to the uber fun stuff! How about some giveaway piles for one lucky reader?

I am doing some holiday destashing...here's what's up for grabs.........ooodles and ooodles of crafty doodles! Yep, we've been hiding out.

Hanging low...not doing too much but enjoying each other's company. The hubby has been working at home alot during the past couple weeks, so we have been taking advantage of this time together. For Lily, it's great fun to have daddy putting her down for naps and being the one to get her when she wakes!

A fun little sensory treat today....just mix all kinds of beans with an empty sand/water table.....

And what do you get?

A girl who loves to dig, pour and sort all of her beans....this lasted for 45 minutes...seriously. And no beans were eaten or stuck into random orifices either!

I've also been trying to get one layout a month done (my goal for now).....
So, this was my latest....it turned out fine, I don't love or hate it, but I do LOVE trying!

If you are a scrapper, do you digi-scrap?? I am thinking I would love to get into that, but...WOWZA....there are waaaaay too many sites to browse! Send me your favorites, I'd love to see them...

And, don't think the sewing machine is all dusty....she's been out, working feverishly for me!

I just could not resist turning this vintage fabric into something sweet! Peek at it in the shop...

Better Late than Never!

I know you are dying to know 7 random things about me, right? Hahaahha

Well, that's what I have to do, so here goes....

1. I am not fond of bath's, never have been. I don't find them relaxing......I can't get past the thought of sitting in my own dirt stew.

2. I used to be a HUGE nail biter. I would also nibble on the surrounding skin. YUCK! I stopped about 8 years ago...{and no, those are not my fingers}.

3. I used to have a gigantic newfie/st. bernard dog, who was 180lbs. Oh how I miss, Kraemer!

4. I am most productive at about 10pm, while on the phone with a girlfriend....encouraging me to "get those customs done right now!!"

5. I use hot sauce on everything from eggs....to rice....to grilled cheese. I ♥ spicy foods!

6. I am terrible at math. Or maybe I just have a strong dislike for math? I think it's BOTH. I am always calling a friend when I am at the store...."ok, so what is 33 percent off of something that is $13?"

7. I am on day 3 of the Master Cleanse fast. Yep, I am crazy...but, it feels SOOOO good! I plan for 10 days....but maybe 14, we'll see!

Well, there you are.....so interesting, right? :)

It was the most PERFECT Autumn day.....chilly, crisp, colorful and not raining, yay! Thank you, "Auntie S" for letting us jump and pose in your leaves today....we had so much fun!
I am no professional, but we tried. I very much dislike posing for pictures {much prefer the candid look}, but I needed some 2 year pics of me and the lady, times are going waaay too fast!

We have a problem over here.

See the pretty baby fox? Well, we have that baby and her entire extended family staying with us.
Yes, they are so pretty. But, I can't let our dog out or play outside with Lily without seeing at least one member of this sly family outside, waiting to greet us.
Have you ever seen a dog and fox fight?
I haven't and don't want to either.

How do I get rid of this furry family.....in a humane way??

Call on my best friend, GOOGLE.

Best answer? HUMAN urine all over your lawn.

This year, for Lily's birthday there was:

no invitations sent out

no party

no piles of gifts

no food to make

no cake to bake

no one to entertain Just mama, daddy and the little bean.......

and LOTS of water and laughing!
I know....my bad. We decided on no birthday party this year and instead go to an indoor water park. Something I knew she would love and appreciate.

BIG hit.

Then a short trip to grandma and grandpa's house for outdoor exploring (in an outfit lil miss picked out.....hello 80's, hahahha)!

The best (stress free) idea I ever had....seriously! Next year, she will be older and wiser, so I am thinking I may not be able to get away with it.

Rain, rain go AWAY!

dreary.

cold.

wet.

yucky.

mucky.

muddy.

messy.

It's been one of those weeks. We have seen the sun for about 10 minutes the entire week. How depressing!

Instead of sleeping the day away, Lily helped mama do a massive clean out.... Am I the only one who's car is loaded with mismatched socks, toys, dvd, cd's, random shoes, and mashed raisins in every corner?

The sippy cup I found with green stuff growing inside was a fun little surprise, too. I can not be the the only mom who would throw that cup in the garbage immediately, right? No matter how much I cleaned it, I would always know that as the "moldy sippy cup".
I was too ashamed to take any close up pictures of the carpeting to show you. Or the car seat. Or what is underneath those shopping cart covers on the floor up there. Eek!
Solution needed!!! I am always just throwing stuff back "there". I rarely have the car in any presentable manner. Peeps ever want to ride the Shellymobile? Heck no!
One wet and dreary nap time later......an organizer. Yes! A perfect nook for everything. And....

So much prettier!
